COASTEERING by admin
Tombstoning, or in other words, jumping off cliffs from various heights into water, has had a lot of bad press. Many people decide after a few drinks that they will go to the coast and jump, not checking the height or if there are rocks below. If the water is not deep enough or worse if there are rocks, serious accidents can happen many of which has been covered in newspapers and on the TV.
However, for many like myself, tombstoning was a sport I enjoyed. (Go to www.tombstoning.com for more information) With the bad press though it makes me look irresponsible and stupid. So another sport, which has a taste of tombstoning and climbing in is coasteering.
Coasteering involves a mixture of swimming, climbing, scrambling and traversing the coastline. What is good about it is you can arrange to go out with a group of friends with an instructor. Courses are available all over the UK.
